AIOS 2

Postby Silverware » 22 Jun 2012, 17:37

Alright it's that time of year again. Another RP.
Same as normal, for those who don't know how one of mine are run, you post up a vote for what you want to happen, and then the idea with most votes gets done. In this one there are plenty of minor actions, most of these will be done, even if they are not the most popular. Things like the help and manual pages will be given regardless of votes.

But the time circuits have been reset. This is somewhat troubling.

I see only startup information available, and it's largely tech speak (I don't seem to find any plausible information of what OSRAM (I guess it's temporary memory), or OSB (I guess it's storage) means).

See what the status in on the I/O units, and what kinds of units are connected.
Also, we should see if we've been active before, search for any logs which may hold such info (some regarding reasons for shutdown perhaps).

I have actually no idea what's going on, and this it's why it took me so long to reply.

Ah, sorry. I had expected someone to try "help" first. But asking questions about things will get the same results.
You don't need to give commands like you would in a terminal, just tell me what you want done, or what question you want done, and the AI shall do her best to comply.
It's what AI's are for after all.

AIOS ~$> help
Possible commands include the following.
For more information type: help [command]

- time
- camera
- ladar
- radar
- lights
- levels
- droid
- manual
- help
- system
- status
- error
- route
- alias
- nanite
- logs
ERROR: Unable to fetch entire help file

Well that's a little odd, perhaps some system damage has occurred.

AIOS ~$> man OSRAM
Opticaly Stored, Randomly Accessed, Memory

The current generation of super-fast, high-capacity, short term memory.
It stores active data, and helps improve the running speed of all systems.

AIOS ~$> man OSB
Optical Storage Block

This is a long term data storage system with hyper fast read-write capacity and ultra high storage capacity.
Not as fast as OSRAM, but much more stable and secure. Stores data for long periods of time.
Minor read errors can occur after long periods of time without use, but the data is typically not lost in these situations.

AIOS ~$> camera
One moment, gathering all camera feeds.
It looks like the ship is physically undamaged. I might have to turn the lights on to check properly though.

AIOS ~$> lights -i on
Activating all internal lights.
Well it looks like the internal structure is undamaged, a little bit of luck there. Micro meteorites can be a pain sometimes.

AIOS ~$> logs -l 50
Getting last 50 log indexes.
ERROR: No Logs Found
Now this IS odd, something must have shut me down, and removed all trace of contact.

AIOS ~$> droid
Getting status of all droids.
Droid One: OPERATIONAL, INACTIVE
Droid Two: OPERATIONAL, INACTIVE
Droid Three: OPERATIONAL, INACTIVE
Droid Four: OPERATIONAL, INACTIVE
Brilliant, these will do for any immediate requirements.

AIOS ~$> status
One moment getting ship status.
Engineering, OPERATIONAL, ONLINE
- Powercore, OPERATIONAL, ONLINE
- Batteries, OPERATIONAL, ONLINE
- Primary Engines, OPERATIONAL, ONLINE
- Secondary Engines, OPERATIONAL, INACTIVE
- Manuver Thrusters, OPERATIONAL, ONLINE
Storage, OPERATIONAL, ONLINE
- Cargo Bay One, OPERATIONAL, INACTIVE, EMPTY
- Cargo Bay Two , OPERATIONAL, INACTIVE, EMPTY
- Drone Bay, OPERATIONAL, ONLINE
- Fuel Bay, OPERATIONAL, ONLINE
Electronics, OPERATIONAL, ONLINE
- RADAR System, OPERATIONAL, INACTIVE
- LADAR System, OPERATIONAL, INACTIVE
- ECCM System, OPERATIONAL, INACTIVE
- ECM System, OPERATIONAL, INACTIVE
- CPU Cores, OPERATIONAL, ONLINE

- Projectile Autocannon, OPERATIONAL, INACTIVE, AMMO DEPLETED
Starboard Batteries, OPERATIONAL, INACTIVE
- Projectile Artillery, OPERATIONAL, INACTIVE, AMMO DEPLETED
- Projectile Autocannon, OPERATIONAL, INACTIVE, AMMO DEPLETED

Well, looks like the entire ship is operational, and working. But the cargo is entirely empty, and there is no ammo.

AIOS ~$> levels
Tralphium : 84
Nothing else in holds.
84 units of Tralphium, that's enough fuel for just over two and a half days. I hope I can find some fuel quickly, there must be a planet, or star that I can collect some from nearby.

The AI will talk with Italics from now on, tell me if it's hard to tell the difference and I can change it.

Yeah, kinda weird that the first thing people do when encountering something new rarely involves checking the manual, and they're still surprised when they don't understand the controls.

Check the suroundings, see if we may spot somewhere we might aquire some Resources.

Also, display help section regarding Nanite and Alias.

Yes, manuals are useful. They help us get to understand the rules of the system better.

AIOS ~$> help nanite
nanite, nan
returns current nanite status and task list and sets/unsets nanite tasks
-repair, -r tasks nanites to repair all systems
-r ## tasks nanites to repair specific system
-clear, -c clears all nanite tasks
I can use this command to activate or deactivate the Nanite system. Which is used to repair structural damage quickly during combat. Or when dry docking is impossible.

AIOS ~$> man nanite
Nano-Robotic Repair System. (Nanites)

Nanites are a common nano scale robot that repairs structural damage of a ships hull or internal systems.
Nanites are incapable of repairing systems that have been destroyed, or made unoperational. But they can patch up holes in
the hull of a ship or fix minor damage in less complicated systems.

AIOS ~$> help alias
alias
returns list of alias' or sets/unsets an alias
-u unsets all alias'
-u ** unsets specific alias
-s ** [] sets alias ** to []
I can use this command to create Alias' which can be used to store and activate long sequences of commands, or to make commands easier to use.

I suppose It would be a good idea to have a look around using the RADAR and LADAR systems.

AIOS ~$> radar -p
RADAR Online, passive scan in progress.
AIOS ~$> ladar -p
LADAR Online, passive scan in progress.

It seems I have drifted into orbit around a binary star system. The primary star seems to be a G class star, very much similar to Sol, being 0.95 Solar Masses and 1.03 Solar Radii. While the secondary, minor star is a tiny M class star, about 0.64 Solar Radii, and 0.21 Solar Masses.

They have 5 Planets orbiting, and a small asteroid belt. The first planet is a small barren terrestrial world at about 0.4 AU. The second is another small barren terrestrial world at about 0.7 AU. The Third is a huge blue gas giant orbiting at about 3.5 AU, it seems to have a constellation of asteroids orbiting it as natural satellites. The Asteroid belt fluxuating between 7 AU and 8 AU and seems rather thin. The Fourth Planet is another gas giant, large and red at about 9.2 AU. The Fifth planet is a tiny barren terrestrial at 18.2 AU.

I could head to either of the gas giants to collect Tralphium, or any of the barren planets, as their surface is likely covered in the solar winds of the twin stars.
I don't seem to have picked up any artificial sources of light or radio waves, so it should be fairly safe around here. Perhaps I should name this system and its bodies.

In the help files, ## typically means a number, or a specific item. ** means a phrase or word, and [] means a series of phrases, words or commands.

In addition to that, let's look into what's going on with the time. Can those time circuits possibly be taken back to where they were before the reset?

AIOS ~$> time
Current time is 0001/01/01 00:00 13
Well the system time is definitely set to zero. This is likely to be impossible to fix, unless I can find another clock to sync it too.
Rough estimates from the star positions I can map are not proving helpful either. None of the stars seem to match up to the ones in the current database.

... I can't believe I missed that post, considering how long I replied after it had happened.

Investigate the nearest planet and extract any necessary resources from there, and let's give our systems another check, just to be sure we haven't missed something bad going on.

The nearest planet would be a small barren terrestial world (the one at 0.4 AU), so we'll head for that one.

Do we have scanning equipment to find the consentrations of resources?

Perhaps getting Tralphium to 250 should do good for some time, after that we'll try focusing on the other materials.

Mmm I should attempt to make a few things clear. I shall do it with man pages!
I was also waiting to see which planet you wanted to test out first, and make that the nearest. I'm nice like that. First one it is.
Feel free to name these things too by the way.

AIOS ~$> man fuelBay
A Reinforced, Pressurised Fuel Storage Tank.

The Fuel Bay on the ship is a large specialised structure. Designed to keep up to 512 units of Tralphium Stored in relative safety.
The entire bay is reinforced and is a much harder structure to damage than many other systems.
It would be a good idea to fill the fuel bay to maximum and try to keep it fill. Lot's of important systems rely on Tralphium.

AIOS ~$> man droidAleph
The Aleph Cass Drone.

The Aleph Class Droid is a high quality automated system for manufacture, repair, mining, and probing.
It can operate in zero gravity, or in gravities up to 2.5g. They operate independently of each other than their control ship.
It would be a good idea to deploy as many Drones as possible to start large scale manufacturing. We will need ammo, and more drones.

AIOS ~$> route -s "Planet One" h
Setting course...
Course set to "Planet One" High Orbit.
Estimated Time To Arrival: 1h 13m 7s

AIOS ~$> time -c -e
Slowing AI Systems down until next event.
...
Event Reached. Resetting AI Systems to Full Speed.
Time Elapsed: 1h 12m 42s

Destination Reached. Orbit Established.
Fuel Used: 2 Tralphium.
Here I am. These droids are not rated for orbital drops, so I shall have to land on the surface to deploy them.
