Riddle me this...

Postby ummm24 » 17 Aug 2011, 13:30

You know what everyone loves? A good riddle! I thought that it would be fun if we all just sit back, write a good brain teaser, and chew on a pencile trying to unwrap a sentance! I love riddles, because most of them have metaphors. And I just love making metaphors! Here, I will throw one out on the table. :D

Kills the bad ones, and the sad ones. Tightens to fit, so one size fits all.
Spoiler! :
It's a noose! :lol:

I don't exactly know if this one is too popular or not, but it really is fun for a guy who never encountered this one before! :D

Sorry, but I was looking through a page of riddles (I need a good riddle. This is really fun for me! :D ), and I found another one. bear with me, this is a long one.

'Twas in heaven pronounced, and 'twas muttered in hell,
An echo caught faintly the sound as it fell;
On the confines of earth 'twas permitted to rest,
And the depths of the ocean its presence confessed;
'Twill be found in the sphere when 'tis riven asunder,
Be seen in the lightning and heard in the thunder.
'Twas allotted to man with his earliest breath,
Attends him at birth, and awaits him in death,
Presides o'er his happiness, honor, and health,
Is the prop of his house, and the end of his wealth.
In the heaps of the miser 'tis hoarded with care,
But is sure to be lost on the prodigal heir.
It begins every hope, every wish it must bound,
With the husbandman toils, and with monarchs is crowned.
Without it the soldier, the seaman may roam,
But woe to the wretch who expels it from home!
In the whispers of conscience its voice will be found,
Nor e'en in the whirlwind of passion be drowned.
'Twill not soften the heart; but though deaf be the ear,
It will make it acutely and instantly hear.
Yet in shade let it rest, like a delicate flower,
Ah... breathe on it softly, - it dies in an hour.

Spoiler! :
It's the letter 'H'! Ha! I'm sure that you'll be rereading it over and over! :D

Thank you so much ummm24 for creating this new topic! I always love a good riddle and am so eager to read more! Meanwhile, I found my own riddle to post!

I have rivers without water,
Forests without trees,
Mountains without rocks
Towns without houses.

What am I?

Spoiler! :
A Map!

That must be one of my favorite riddles. I cant thank you enough for creating this new topic!
I hope everyone puts up even MORE riddles!

Oh, I never heard that one before (I still got it, though :D ). Hmm, I'm a little depressed that no one is posting. Well, it is only the second day. In the meanwhile, I'll just put another one up on the board.

A handless man had a letter to write,
And he who read it had lost his sight;
The dumb repeated it word for word,
And deaf was the man who listened and heard.

Who am I?

Spoiler! :
Silence

There, I hope you enjoy it!

I heard this certain riddle from a friend when i was occupied with my hobbies. I love it because I figured it out, but i had to take small steps to find the answer.

You get many of me, but never enough.
After the last one, your life soon will snuff.
You may have one of me but one day a year,
When the last one is gone, your life disappears.

What am I?

Spoiler! :
:D A Birthday :D

hope that everyone enjoyed that one, and am looking forward to see more of other's riddles and posts! :P

You know, I never figured Pantheon for much of a riddler.
The following statement is true. The previous statement is false.

'Poison' is such a harsh word. I prefer 'Potion of Shut the Hell Up.

You know what the best part about this weather is? The Zombies will freeze to death. Er... Undeath.

Ha, I love this. You'll get the hang of it when people post more riddles.

As destructive as life,
As healing as death;
An institutioner of strife,
Just as prone to bless.
It is all that is good,
Yet with an evil trend;
As it was the beginning of things,
It can also be the end.

What am I?

Spoiler! :
Answer: Fire, but 'love' also seems to work (though it was not the intended).

Iron roof, glass walls
Burns and burns

.... Well, it's been months since the last person has posted anything, not including me, and I don't know if anyone still remembers this page. Bit disapointed, but I guess that I can't leave without giving the page one last riddle.

I can be new, but never old,
I can be full, but never empty.

What am I?

Spoiler! :
Answer: The moon

-EDIT-
Whoops, now that I look at this thing, the moon is actually very, very old. Heheh, ttl fail :).
